How Much Does God Love Us?

Have you ever wondered how much God loves us? Or wondered just how you could possibly quantify God’s love?  Well, I was over walking on Brigantine Beach a few weeks ago, just before sunset. As I have done since I was a young child, I stood and faced the vast ocean.  And as often happens when I do that, I felt overwhelmed by God’s greatness and the fact that he loves me.  He loves me! In all that he does and all the healing and fixing that he does, he still finds time to love me. Of course, he loves all of us.  The old and the young. Men and women. Boys and girls. The rich and the poor.  Those who are very smart and those who aren’t. The slow and the quick.  The tall and the short.  All of us.  God loves all of us.  And he loves all of us deeply and infinitely.

So, make a trip to the beach of your choice, at a time of day when you know that there won’t be many people there. Walk to the edge of the water. Stand still for a moment, let the lapping water calm you, and breathe deeply. Take it all in.  The power of the waves. The sounds of the birds. The smell of the air. The salt air surrounding you. The vastness of the ocean. Know that God created all of this.  The same God who took the time to create and love us, you and me. That same God loves us so much.

Ephesians 3: 18-19
And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
