Unlikely Courage: The Women at the Cross - contemporary service

Reverend David L. Ledford, III

Faith requires both courage and love. That's exactly what the women at the cross teach us. Things were getting very violent and very scary for anyone attached to Jesus of Nazareth. His own disciples betrayed him, fell asleep on him, left him and betrayed him. But those women stayed with him every second. Last week we heard about their presence, weeping on the Via Dolorosa. And they followed him all the way up Golgotha, all the way to the cross and through every last breath. How can we be such courageous and loving followers? And how can we be so courageous in our love for our neighbor?
