Behold Your Son, Behold Your Mother - contemporary service

Jesus isn't just the fulfillment of God's Word; he IS God's Word. So, doesn't it make sense that even on the cross, Jesus was still following the Law. To honor your father and mother is one of the ten commandments. Jesus made sure that Mary would be taken care of after his death. Even on the cross, he was honoring his mother. But then we get a model for the Church. Jesus gave Mary to John as his mother, and John to Mary as her son. They weren't biologically related, but they were called to care for each other. Isn't that what the Church should be? A family beyond DNA that cares for each other and loves each other. The Church is a family!
