Unlikely Allies: Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus - contemporary service
Did you ever assume something about another person? Did the actions of another person forever label them in your mind? Or are we able to look beyond a reputation to see the person behind the persona? Jesus was so good at seeing who people really are. Not who others say they are. Not even by the things they did in their worst moments. Jesus could see the real child of God in front of him. And because of that, he made real relationships with some unexpected people; like Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus. They were members of the religious leadership groups trying to trap, trick and crucify Jesus. To some, those labels might disqualify them from friendship. But to Jesus, what they do is not who they are. Can we see people in the same way?
